Microsoft is hiring a Software Engineer 2 – Backend for its Microsoft Search, Assistance, and Intelligence (MSAI) team in Hyderabad. The role focuses on backend services supporting Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Search and enterprise search experiences.
You will work on cloud services that operate at large scale, with responsibilities spanning software design, search systems, distributed computing, APIs and performance optimization. The role also involves working with product managers and partner teams to build features based on user requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop search and platform features for Microsoft’s cloud search services.
- Operate and manage live services supporting substrate search.
- Build scalable, high-performance search systems.
- Work on cloud services running across large server environments.
- Collaborate with product managers and partner teams to understand requirements and design features.
- Develop features supporting Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Search experiences.
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, plus 2+ years of technical engineering experience involving coding, or equivalent experience.
- Programming experience in one or more languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft’s required security screening requirements for the position.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check is required upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- 3+ years of programming experience with C++, C# or Java.
- 3+ years of experience with distributed systems and agile development environments.
- Strong communication and cross-group collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
Work Arrangement
The job posting states that the work site requires 3 days per week in the office. Travel is expected to be less than 25%.
