What You’ll Do
- Investigate reliability, performance, and data-quality issues across Microsoft Advertising services, APIs, and customer workflows.
- Build AI-assisted automation scripts, services, and internal web tools to reduce manual work and speed up troubleshooting.
- Write maintainable, testable production code and contribute fixes, shared libraries, monitoring, and alerting improvements.
- Work with engineering teams to identify root causes, resolve incidents, and complete follow-up actions.
- Create and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end automated tests for important workflows.
- Participate in bug-bashing activities and release-readiness checks.
- Communicate investigation progress, service alerts, and recommended actions during production incidents.
- Analyze escalation patterns and recommend engineering changes that reduce recurring problems and improve the customer experience.
- Document troubleshooting procedures, develop self-service resources for support teams, and help colleagues improve their debugging skills.
What You Need
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- At least three years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls.
- Strong coding skills in at least one general-purpose language: C#, Java, Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
- Experience building automation or services that integrate with APIs, databases, and distributed systems.
- Practical debugging experience using logs, metrics, and traces.
- Comfort working with live production systems and investigating service issues.
- Regular experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools, with the ability to check generated code for correctness, security, and performance.
- Ability to meet Microsoft’s applicable security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
